How to telemedicine.

Making the most of your telemedicine visit.

All telemedicine visits aren’t created equal. like any visit with the doctor, it starts with making sure the information given paints an accurate picture of you & your health. in the office, you’re right there, in 3D, but over video, you have to work a little harder to make the 2D give that info. here are some tips to making a great visit:

-Be on time & prepared. The nurse will call about 5-10 min before the visit to collect your vital signs & review any medications you may be taking. HAVE YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE, PULSE & TEMPERATURE READINGS READY TO GIVE THE NURSE. Have a list of your medications, if any, with doses handy.

-Make sure that you’re in a private place. Have headphones/earbuds on, if possible, for extra privacy. You shouldn’t be in a restaurant, hallway of school or work, or be the driver in a car.

-Position yourself in a room with good natural light in a comfortable chair where you could stand up, if needed. If you need to be in a parked car, that’s fine, too.

-You should be alone or with one parent, if you’re under 18 y/o. Having more people present is distracting and puts your privacy at risk.

-If your visit has to do with something on your skin that the doctor may need to have a close/focused view of, send a clear photograph ahead of your visit to our secure email.

-If possible, make a list of the symptoms you have been experiencing ahead of time so you don’t forget to include everything during your visit.

-We use secure video portal for your privacy. Dr.Scalfano will send a link by text message AFTER the nurse call. Click on the link & allow your camera & mic access if prompted. This system requires some big bandwidth from your internet. If you can’t see or hear the doctor well, just let her know and we have some alternative platforms that we can use.
